Colombian singer Juanes has shared his first single, "La Luz," off his upcoming sixth solo studio album. The upbeat, danceable track was written by Juanes and produced by Steve Lillywhite (The Killers, U2), according to Billboard.
It was recorded in Los Angeles with Emmanuel “Meme” de Real of the Mexican rock group Café Tacuba. According to the article, a music video filmed in the historic city of Cartegena will be released soon.
“While Juanes is often known as a consciously outspoken observer of challenges facing our world, he has long been equally at home — with some of his biggest hits — pairing mesmerizing Latin rhythms with lyric explorations of how attraction, lust and intimacy can take hold of us,” a press release explains. “With ‘La Luz’ Juanes musically drives us onto a dance floor in Cartagena (just as summer weather arrives in Colombia) and wonders how far seduction in the darkness will go when the lights lose power — leaving only the electricity of two lovers entwined in the darkness."
The album, which has yet to be titled, will follow up 2010’s P.A.R.C.E. and will be Juanes’ first major release since last year’s chart-topping MTV Unplugged session.
