Mick Jagger, Olivia Wilde & Bobby Cannavale Rock HBO 'VINYL' NYC Premiere [WATCH VIDEO]
Crime, drugs, sex, guns and madness are the name of the game in HBO's new musical drama VINYL. From Executive Producers Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter, the rip-roaring new rock series premiered in New York City at a swanky red carpet event held at the Ziegfield Theater last Friday night on January 15, 2016. Chronicling the 1970s sex and drug laced music scene, Vinyl stars Bobby Cannavale and Olivia Wilde.
[VINYL] will just remind people what the 70s were like," series regular P.J. Byrne, who plays a lawyer Scott Levitt, told MusicTimes.com exclusively. "The cast is just extraordinary. A little story about what the show and what Bobby is, there was one day when Bobby had to do this crazy monalogue about rock and roll. And I had to tackle him in a room and we were both tired but Bobby is just killing it. And I remember when the camera wasn't even on him. It was our take, the director was like, 'Hey maybe you want to take it down to like 70%.' Bobby was like, 'We don't know how to do 75%.' And I was like, dude that's our guy! That's our lead."
Cannavale plays record label president Richie Finestra "who is trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his path" as the musical landscape evolves from just rock into punk, the intense sounds of 80s disco and hip-hop. Wilde, who stunned at the premiere in a gorgeous black Valentino gown, holds her own opposite Cannavale as his wife Devon Finestra whom is desparately trying to maintain her husband's sanity.
The 10-episode drama will also boast appearances by Ray Romano, Ato Essandoh, Max Casella, J.C. MacKenzie, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Juno Temple, Jack Quaid, James Jagger and Paul Ben-Victor. Alongside Scorsese, Jagger and Winter, the series is executive-produced by Rick Yorn, Victoria Pearman, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, John Melfi and Allen Coulter.
