Television is gearing up to be taken over by Super Bowl 50 on Sunday night (Feb. 7). And while the game between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers may be the main event, we here at Music Times are all about the halftime show starring Coldplay.

Though the show itself is set to be big enough on its own, there's something to be said for the unexpected. From new music to surprise special guests to the biggest hit of the year, here's our Super Bowl 50 halftime show wishlist.

01. Lights! Confetti! Colors! A big spectacle!

These things are already a given from any Super Bowl show, but despite their tendency to err toward soft rock, Coldplay really emphasize the visual elements of their live show. From graffiti walls to circular video screens and more spinning kaleidoscope blue, green and red lights than you could ever imagine, Coldplay's candy-colored stages can easily rival Katy Perry's. The Super Bowl is just as much about the look as it is the music, and we're expecting some massive, innovative staging from this year's show.

02. "Uptown Funk," Please.

Bruno Mars is going to be there, need we say anymore? Mars took the stage at Super Bowl XLVIII just two years ago, and since then, we have yet to see a full studio album release from the funky pop singer. So, don't expect a rehash of his 2014 setlist or cuts from his first two records. What can you want? Oh, only the biggest hit of 2015. The world was captivated by his Mark Ronson collaboration "Uptown Funk," and the Super Bowl is just begging for us all to get down.

03. New Music from Beyoncé and Bruno.

Beyoncé is already heavily rumored (and likely) to be releasing at least one new single during the Super Bowl ("Formation"), though the BeyHive has been buzzing about two new Beyoncé songs all week, which will be a welcome addition to early 2016's pop field. Though new Beyoncé music is pretty much guaranteed, a new single from Bruno Mars would be a great addition to the Super Bowl and our world. Since releasing Unorthodox Jukebox in 2012, Mars has been quiet on the music front (except for "Uptown Funk," of course). And what better time to make a comeback than on the back of sport's biggest night?

04. Surprise Performers

Coldplay, of course, are headlining the Super Bowl but they're going to be joined by special guests Beyoncé and Bruno Mars. But, this is the 50th Super Bowl! Shouldn't there be a few total surprises along the way? Since Beyoncé and Bruno are recent Super Bowl alumni, other recent performers like Katy Perry, Madonna or even Bruce Springsteen could help diversify the show and provide excitement.

05. Surprise Other Guests

Though musical surprise guests are the most obvious choices to help boost the Super Bowl, Coldplay has everyone from President Barack Obama to Chris Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow guest on their new album A Head Full of Dreams, and while it's a longshot, this is a major television event. Why can't the POTUS or Miss Goop make an appearance? What would they do? I DON'T KNOW! But wouldn't it be fun to find out?
