Skepta Parties Harder Than You In New “Man” Video, Latest ‘Konnichiwa’ Single [WATCH]
Skepta is about to drop his highly-anticipated fifth studio album, Konnichiwa, which is due out May 6 via his own Boy Better Know crew's eponymous imprint. In advance of the full album's release, the UK grime rapper has dropped a new video for the latest Konnichiwa single titled "Man," in which he proves he definitely parties harder than you.
The video, which was directed by Risky Roadz, documents a chaotic house party in which Skepta and his crew rage all night, Noisey reports. They dance with girls, graffiti-up the walls with messages like "forgot to vote" and shout-outs to BBK, chain-smoke indoors, and eventually chase the police away. It concludes with the revellers smashing-up a car just before dawn.
It appears to have been filmed on a few different handheld camcorders complete with date imprints, making the grainy video seem like it was filmed in the '90s. A close-up of a note stating "no sex in the dressing room" feels like a nod to Chris Rock's 1999 classic "No Sex In The Champagne Room" until the camera zooms on the note below it reading "Snapchat And Die."
While countless artists from Metallica to Miley Cyrus have offered up their own house party music videos over the years, Skepta's house party puts the rest to shame. Watch it feel the FOMO for yourself, below.
Nothing has yet to come of that collaboration, but rubbing elbows with the likes of Drake has certainly helped add a certain amount of hype surrounding Konnichiwa. "Man" follows lead album singles "Shutdown," "Ladies Hit Squad" featuring D Double E and A$AP Nast and "That's Not Me" featuring JME.
Adenuga was scheduled to perform at Coachella this year, but for some reason the US refused to grant the rapper a work visa, NME reports. He has a number of US tour dates coming up, but it remains unclear if the paperwork problem will be resolved in time for the first leg of his No Fear Tour.
