La' Porsha Renae has released a little sample of what's to be expected on her forthcoming album with her blues-soulful lead single, "Good Woman."
Though 23-year-old La'Porsha Renae Jennings didn't claim the title as the season 15 winner of American Idol like Trent Harmon did, she still seems to be reaping all the benefits of an Idol winner.
The Mississippi-native signed a record deal with Motown/19 Recordings back in April. She has since been working on her first full album with the label and just released the new lead single off the album, which she co-wrote, letting everyone know exactly why she deserves it all.
"Cause I'm a real good, good, good, good woman" belted the mother of one on the soulful track.
The track, produced by "H - Money" (Harmony Samuels) tells the empowering story of a woman who finally realizes her true worth while in a relationship where her man does not.
"You got a good good good good woman. You better get it together and act like you know that you do," demanded the singer. "Cause I'm a good good good good woman, but even good woman go bad when they go through what you put me through."
According to Billboard, the American Idol runner-up explained how this song came at the request of her fans who've been asking for "that in your face song."
"A lot of fans have been requesting that in-your-face song, a sense of feeling empowered and 'Good Woman' is that: a relatable song celebrating the good woman," she explained.
Feeling empowered is something that she herself experienced with the third verse of the song.
"I'm also really proud of the third verse which I wrote" she revealed.
"I'm washing your clothes, cooking your meals.- took on a second job to help pay the bills," belted the big-haired big voice singer in the third verse of the song. "Done had three of your kids helping them make it through school, waking them up getting them dressed, and taking care of you too."
The singer tweeted the iTunes link for her #Renaetion followers to purchase the single.
