The Simpsons are bringing hip-hop to Springfield for a special episode this winter. The legendary show is tabbing RZA, Snoop Dogg and Common to join the show for an hour-long homage to The Great Gatsby.

The trio of rappers will play themselves on the show and join a growing cast for this episode that already includes Taraji P. Henson and Keegan-Michael Key.

"We wanted the Mt. Rushmore of rap, and we got it," Simpsons producer Dan Greaney, who wrote the episode, tells Entertainment Weekly. "They represent different moods and different aspects of the history of hip-hop."

The episode intertwines hip-hop with the themes of greed found in The Great Gatsby and some of the existing plot lines and characters found in the Simpsons universe. It revolves around the doomed friendship between Mr. Burns and a mysterious hip-hop mogul named Jay G (hmmmmmmm).

The story takes place at Burns' summer mansion in the Springfield Hamptons and begins when Jay G and Burns become friends before the hip-hop mogul sends Burns into bankruptcy. Jay G uses his devious plan to take over the nuclear plant.

The episode will feature original hip-hop songs by Jim Beanz, who also writes for Henson's Empire. There will be a betrayal rap and a revenge rap.

"It's a tale of greed, excess, betrayal, revenge, and ruthlessness," Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman told EW, "and there's a hilarious goose in it. The goose is really funny."

Homer narrates the episode, titled "The Great Phatsby," which should add a funny new dimension.

The two-part episode will air together for an hour. It will run sometime in January.
