Inglewood's The Forum was filled to the brim with celebrities for the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. Among the guests was Artist of the Year nominee Ed Sheeran, whose date for the annual ceremony drew the eyes of many other guests and onlookers.

As reported by AOL, Sheeran date for the VMAs was no other than Seattle-based actress Jennie Pegouskie. Donning an all-white strapless jumpsuit accompanied by a matching cape, she previously appeared on Sheeran's music video "Shape of You", which was also nominated as "Best Pop Video of the Year." Sheeran, on the other hand, went with the casual jeans, shirt and jacket.

While Sheenan did not win the Moon Person trophy for "Best Pop Video," he surely made up for it by grabbing the "Artist of the Year" award. Besting other artists like Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande and Kendrick Lamar, Entertainment Weekly reported that the 26-year old Halifax native took his first trophy for the said category.

Before his win as Artist of the Year, Sheeran has won one VMA award. In the 2014 VMAs, Sheeran, along with Pharrell Williams, got the "Best Male Video" award for their collaboration video "Sing,"

This year's VMAs marked several firsts. One of them was the creation of the "Artist of the Year" category, which replaced the Best Male and Best Female categories of the past. Another change was the renaming of the statue given at the event. From being called the "Moonman" statue, it is now named the "Moon Person" trophy, turning it into a gender-neutral title.

Sheeran started his music career in the UK on 2011 with the debut single "+" (read as Plus), garnering a seven platinum certification and several awards. He rose to fame in 2012 after appearing in Taylor Swift's "Red" album. Ed Sheeran's current album, ÷ (read as Divide), was released on March 2017 with critical acclaim.
