Those who were hoping that Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) will come running back to Callie (Sara Ramirez) now that she is single again are in for a big disappointment. EP Debbie Allen doused all hopes for that happening in “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14 when she revealed that there are no plans at the moment for Ramirez’ return.

“We love her and we miss her, [but] there’s been no discussion of it,” Allen said. It would have been the perfect time for Ramirez to return to the series after her exit in the Season 12 finale. Arizona’s girlfriend Eliza (Marika Dominczyk) will not be back for the upcoming new season of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Fans were hoping that Arizona will consider getting back with Callie.

In last season’s finale, Eliza was abruptly fired and in her final scene, she told a shocked Arizona. Although the actual breakup was not shown, Allen confirmed that it will be addressed in the “Grey’s Anatomy” Season 14 two-hour premiere on September 28. She teased that it would be very interesting how it will be done reports TV Line.

It can be remembered that it was series creator Shonda Rhimes who announced Ramirez’ decision to leave the show, saying she found out about it only three days prior. Ramirez told her that she needed to take a break and Rhimes assured her there were no hard feelings with her decision reports Entertainment Weekly.

Rhimes said she understood the grueling schedule actors face while filming a series like “Grey’s Anatomy.” Between 17-27 episodes per season are being shot since the series premiered in 2005. With that schedule, it is not easy for the actors to do anything else with only a two month break between seasons.

At that time, Ramirez released a statement about her exit from the series saying, “I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at “Grey’s Anatomy” and ABC, but for now I’m taking some welcome time off.” She added that she looked forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family.
