Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie Could Focus On Gap Between Episodes III And IV
A talk about another "Star Wars" spinoff movie is doing some rounds, with Obi-Wan Kenobi as the lead character. In line with the first spinoff title "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," it would focus on the Master Jedi's life during his stay in Tatooine.
While either Disney or Lucasfilm has confirmed the existence of the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, many points suggest that if one is to be created, it will be during the events in the middle of Episode III "Revenge of the Sith" and Episode IV "A New Hope." As IGN pointed out, fleshing out the events while adopting the name Ben Kenobi will be the most viable option.
As seen in the closing moments of Episode III, Kenobi, played by Ewan McGregor, brought one of Padme's twins to the desert planet and gave the child to Owen and Beru Lars. He also decided to live as a hermit in the area to protect and watch over him.
Fast forward to Episode IV, Ben Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness, helps the young Luke Skywalker, portrayed by Mark Hamill, learn how to use the force. Going back to his Jedi ways, he fulfills the promise he gave Yoda and faced his end at the hands of Darth Vader, who turned out to be his former padawan and Luke's father Anakin Skywalker.
Apart from the proposed movie, Obi-Wan would possibly make an appearance on the upcoming Episode VIII, albeit in his "Force Ghost" form. This was hinted by the recent release of the "Black Series" toyline, which is apparently connected to "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
According to Movieweb, the Kenobi toy, which is a Walgreens exclusive, has some translucent parts. The image has a strong resemblance to how the character appeared onscreen after "A New Hope." If the character would indeed appear onscreen, no mention as to who would play the role.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is set to arrive in December 2017. The second spinoff film, the yet-untitled "Han Solo" movie, is scheduled for 2018.
