This year's New York Comic-Con will feature a panel for the upcoming "Batman Ninja" project. Planned as a direct to video animated film, this new DC Universe Original Movies title will be spearheaded by several big names in the anime genre.

According to Polygon, the NYCC panel for "Batman Ninja" will include Jumpei Mizusaki, Takashi Okazaki and Kazuki Nakashima. Scriptwriters Leo Chu and Eric Garcia will join the Japanese team, with some guests hinted to be part of the panel.

Best known as the producer of the anime series "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" and worked on the "Mega Man X7" and "Mega Man X8" video games, Mizusaki will be helming the project as director. Okazaki, who created "Afro Samurai", will take the role of character designer, while "Kill La Kill" and "Kamen Rider Fourze" scribe Nakashima is tasked to create the script for "Batman Ninja."

Along with the discussion panel, the NYCC audience will be given additional treats. As reported by Comic Book, some footage of the "Batman Ninja" project will be shown as well, possibly featuring their iteration of the Caped Crusader and some characters from the Dark Knight's deep lore.

"Batman Ninja" is not the only animated feature Warner Bros. and DC are working on. Adapted from the first "Elseworlds" stories by Brian Agustyn and Mike Mignola of "Hellboy," "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight" brings the Dark Knight in London during the 1800's as he deals with the murder spree of the real-life murderer Jack the Ripper. Both "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight" and "Batman Ninja" is slated to release in 2018.

Started in 2006, the New York Comic Convention is an annual event in New York City organized and managed by ReedPOP. Catering to fans of comic books, anime, and video games to name a few, the 2017 NYCC is scheduled for October 5-8, with the "Batman Ninja" panel taking place on the first day.
