Hulu released The Handmaid's Tale, the first show from a streaming service to ever win the top category at the Emmy Awards. NBC gave a wacky, tremendously inventive sophomore season of The Good Place, and Netflix premiered new seasons for Stranger Things, Sense8, and BoJack Horseman. Check out our list of the best shows released in 2017.

9-1-1

Creators of American Horror Story and Glee have partnered up yet again for 9-1-1, a procedural series that steps into the shoes of first responders in Los Angeles. It boasts a phenomenal array of talent, from Angela Bassett to Connie Britton to Peter Krause. 9-1-1 will arrive on Jan. 3.

The End Of The F***ing World

Netflix is really into surprise drops, huh? In December 2016 it released a brand-new series called The OA out of the blue, which turned out to be one the best shows of that year. It's doing it again with The End Of The F***ing World, a show about psychopaths-in-embryo who run away from their miserable lives. The End Of The F***ing World will arrive on Jan. 5.

The Alienist

Altered Carbon

Netflix is kicking off its 2018 TV lineup with Altered Carbon, an adaptation of Richard K. Morgan's 2002 cyberpunk novel that bears dystopian hues and sinister underpinnings. It's about a futuristic world where consciousness is digitized and inserted into new bodies to avoid death. Altered Carbon will arrive on Feb. 2.
