Super Bowl LII: It'll Take A Lot More Than The Flu To Keep P!nk From Performing

Nothing can stop P!nk from performing at the Super Bowl. On Sunday, Feb. 4, the pop singer stood onstage to sing the national anthem.

And, as expected, she did phenomenally.

Under The Weather

The 38-year-old has been feeling unwell since Friday, Feb. 2, when she was scheduled to perform at the pre-Super Bowl show in Minneapolis. While she still took the stage to sing her greatest hits, she, at one point, could not finish "Beautiful Trauma," a track from her new album, reported Billboard.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, she was still ill.

"I've been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come," she shared on Instagram. "And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can't write this stuff I swear! And here we are. I've arrived at another one of my dreams which is slowly becoming a sort of nightmare. I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad and brother and step mama and family and the world. And the EAGLES!?!?!"

However, come Sunday, she was ready to sing in front of millions of sports fans all over the world. Spitting what looks like a gum, the singer-songwriter performed "The Star-Spangled Banner," incredibly difficult song that challenged even the most seasoned artists.

Over the years, plenty of P!nk's peers performed the national anthem on live television and made glaring mistakes. Because of the incredible pressure behind the task, many have either forgotten the lyrics of the song or simply could not hit the right notes.

Because of the flu, the award-winning star's performance was not perfect, especially at the emotional finale when she failed to hit the highest note. However, she soldiered on and earned her fellow artists' respect.

Simply Amazing

Singer/actress Sheryl Crow thinks that P!nk's performance on Sunday was one of the best she has ever heard. In the span of 52 years, the Super Bowl has had some of the best musicians in the United States to perform the national anthem and kick off the games. It is definitely an honor to not only sing but be hailed as one of the best performers that the sports event has ever had.

Many such as Ashley Tisdale and Patti Murin are at awe that the "What About Us" singer was sick when she sang live on national television.
