A Will Ferrell Vs. Chad Smith Drum Battle Rematch May Be In The Works
It's hard to believe it's been almost four months since Will Ferrell and Chad Smith put their drum skills to the test on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Some recent online smack talk may be enough to re-ignite the rivalry however.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer took to Facebook today (Sept. 9) to make sure his doppelganger didn't go running his mouth about the questionable victory, SPIN reports. "Will Ferrell claims he's coming to Seattle on September 19," Smith wrote. "I'll bet he pops off about his alleged 'Drum Off' victory. I just might have to be there to call him out on it and settle the score once and for all. The only way you will know for sure is if you are actually there to see it with your own two eyes."
Ferrell will reportedly be going to Seattle for an event titled "90 Minutes With Will Ferrell" put on by the University of Washington's performing arts department. The event's website states that the event will feature "some other people" and will also benefit Cancer for College, the nonprofit that Ferrell raised money for in the first drum-off.
Back in May, things got pretty heated between the comedy star and musician. "Looks like baby learned how to play drums," Ferrell taunted early in the bout. The two exchanged solos before Ferrell earned the golden cowbell and the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared on stage to play Blue Oyster Cult's "(Don't Fear) The Reaper."
Before the battle, Ferrell and Smith raised $300,000 for their respective charities.
