A little over a month after adult entertainer Christy Mack was savagely beaten in her own home she has begun to take baby steps out into the public eye again. Last weekend, Mack attended a charity event for Face Forward, an organization that helps to pay for reconstructive surgery for victims of violence.

While Mack is slowly recovering from her beating allegedly at the hands of former boyfriend and MMA fighter, War Machine ( Jonathan Koppenhaver), she still has a long way to go in her healing.

Mack has started sharing her recovery with fans on Twitter and Instagram and recently posted,

"While my face is starting to look decent again from the swelling going down, it is still not my own," she wrote. "Cutting what was left of my hair off, and losing 15 lbs (it's a lot when you're 5'1") made me feel even further away from myself. It's hard to look in the mirror every day and see someone you do not know."

Mack has undergone several dental procedures with a few more needed. She also needs surgery on her nose which was broken in a few places. It has shifted which has caused breathing problems and Mack hopes to regain movement in her upper lip within about 6 months. On a good note, doctor's have determined that her severely ruptured liver will not require surgery after all.

According to the police report, Christy Mack has alleged that on Aug. 8 War Machine barged into her home and held her hostage. He perused her social media accounts and allegedly hit or kicked her every time that he found something that he didn't like. Mack got a call out to 911 but the police went to the wrong address and ignored the neighbors directions to the correct house. A second call was made and 17 minutes afterwords police finally arrived – 2 hours and 23 minutes after she had placed the original call.

War Machine was eventually arrested after a week-long manhunt and is currently behind bars after pleading not guilty to 32 different felony charges. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in jail for the attack.
