Congrats to MercyMe as Great Gets Greater

"Greater," the second single from MercyMe's latest project, the 6.5 million+ selling (so far), Welcome to the New, has now gone all the way to #1 on both iTunes Christian sales and SoundScan. The tune has also made it into the Top 5 on Christian radio, with 100% of the Billboard Christian AC radio panel playing the song.

For Bart Millard, hearing his son Charlie singing the song, rather than being down and depressed when being teased about a stuttering problem, was the greatest gift. Accolades and hits are all fine and well, but watching your music change a child is the true reward.

Welcome to the New has been beloved by fans and raved about by critics since day one. The album has been called everything from the band's "best effort to date" to "a party from top to bottom." The week it came out, it garnered the highest debut of the week landing at #4 on the Billboard 200 and at #1 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. On the iTunes® Overall Albums Chart, it went all the way to #3 and it shot past that, going to #1 on its Christian Albums Chart.

In other great MercyMe news, their cross-over hit, "I Can Only Imagine," is very close to getting a Double Platinum Certification by the RIAA. The popular song made music history when it became the first single in the Christian genre to receive RIAA Platinum Certification.
