  • 8 Years Ago Today - In 2006, 73-year-old Willie Nelson and four members of his band were charged with misdemeanor drug possession after 1.5 pounds of marijuana and two tenths of a pound of magic mushrooms were found by police on his tour bus near Lafayette, Louisiana.
  • 10 Years Ago Today - In 2004, "Days Go By" became a #1 hit for Keith Urban.

  • 15 Years Ago Today - In 1999, Kenny Chesney's "You Had Me From Hello" topped the Billboard country chart.

  • 21 Years Ago Today - In 1993, Garth Brooks went to #1 on the US album chart with In Pieces. "Ain't Going Down (Til The Sun Comes Up)," one of its singles, also went to #1 on Billboard that day. In total, the album spent 25 weeks on the US chart and sold over 6 million copies. In the UK, it peaked at #2.
  • 22 Years Ago Today - In 1992, Clint Black's The Hard Way was certified gold and platinum simultaneously while Alan Jackson hit the top spot on the Billboard country singles chart with "Love's Got A Hold On You."

  • 25 Years Ago Today - In 1989, David Allan Coe's Greatest Hits was certified Platinum by RIAA.
  • 28 Years Ago Today - In 1986, George Strait's #7 became his fifth Gold album.
  • 33 Years Ago Today - In 1981, George Jones finally scored his first gold album, with I Am What I Am. The gold win was a long time coming as it came over 25 years after his first #1 song.
  • 36 Years Ago Today - In 1978, George Jones was released on a $2,500 bond after being charged with assault with intent to commit murder. Jones was accused of firing a pistol at songwriter Earl "Peanutt" Montgomery in Florence, Alabama.
  • 39 Years Ago Today - In 1975, Freddy Fender earned a gold single with "Wasted Days And Wasted Nights."

  • 43 Years Ago Today - In 1971, Tom T. Hall hit the #1 spot with "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died."
