With all the success behind her hit single "Boom Clap," Charli XCX has decided to delay the release of her upcoming album, Sucker. She took to Twitter to announce the new release date.
According to Complex, the singer featured on Iggy Azalea's megahit "Fancy" pushed the album's release to Dec. 16 in the United States, and Jan. 26 in the UK and Europe. The album was originally slated to be released Oct. 21.
In a series of tweets, Charli assured fans that Sucker is complete. The delay comes in an effort to give the album the proper push that it deserves. We've compiled her tweets. Read what Charli XCX had to say after the jump.
I'm overwhelmed by the love for boom clap & the support from all u angels, I need to put the date back so I can launch the album properly...it's all COOL nothing's WRONG the albums DONE but it's just no one really knew boom clap would do as well as it's doing....(i had no idea boom clap would hang about for so long... It's mind blowing and cool so thank u for that!)
"Boom Clap" peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It has been on the chart for 15 weeks. The track was featured on the soundtrack for the box office hit The Fault In Our Stars. A snippet of the cut was used in the film's prerelease trailer.
In June, it was reported sales tallies showed Fault In Our Stars was the second-biggest-selling soundtrack for a film released in 2014.
