Prince celebrated the release of wo new albums -- his solo album Art Official Age and PLECTRUMELECTRUM with his band 3RDEYEGIRL -- yesterday with a livestream special on Yahoo!. The 90-minute special focused on the history of his 65,000 square-foot Paisley Park estate as well as the collaborators who worked on his most recent records. Toward the end of the broadcast, Prince performed three songs and brought out Kendrick Lamar for one of them. Lamar dropped a new verse for "What's My Name," a rare track from Prince's 1998 box set Crystal Ball.

"This is yours / This is ours / Look at my eyes / Tell me you want me / Tell me you see me / I know you haunt me / I know you love me / I know the truth / I know the real" Lamar rapped.

Before the concert, Prince asked for a snippet of an unnamed song he produced for Rita Ora to be played.

Later, hostess Maya gave viewers a tour of the Paisley Park and directed cameras to a wall mural in one of the hallways. According to Maya, the first half the painting featured artists who influenced Prince, such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, and Jimi Hendrix. The second half featured artists who Prince has influenced, such as Shelia E. and Wendy & Lisa.

During the pre-show interview with the members of 3RDEYEGIRL - bassist Ida Nielsen, guitarist Donna Grantis, drummer Hannah Ford Welton - Maya asked about the process of recording PLECTRUMELECTRUM. The group revealed that they had to learn more than 100 songs while working with Prince and that much of the album came from their live rehearsals.

"We recorded all together, live at the same time, jamming," Welton said. "At the time, we didn't realize we were recording an album. We were just rehearsing and learning new music."

After they recorded vocals, they said Prince suggested picking out cohesive songs and compiling them for an album.
