Willie Nelson Won't Be Kicking the Habit While Playing Shows in Texas

In Texas, the marijuana laws are strict. Possession of 2 ounces or less is a misdemeanor that can get you up to 180 days in jail and/or a fine not to exceed $2000. This is the state that Willie Nelson, who doesn't hide the fact that he smokes, lives in. In the next few months, he'll also be playing seven shows in the state.

When asked by Rolling Stone magazine if he was going to do without while playing in Texas, his response was no. He said, "They (police) mostly want autographs now. They don't really bother me any more for the weed, because you can just bust me now and I'll pay my fine or go to jail, get out and burn one (joint) on the way home. They know they're not stopping me."

He is firmly behind legalizing medical marijuana and believes that our politicians should look to Israel as to how to do it. He shared, "(Medical) weed is legal in Israel - there's an old-folks home there, and all these old men were walking around with bongs and s--t. ... They got it figured out before we did."December.
