Danny Gokey Celebrates Hitting #1

After the 45th Annual Dove Awards, some artists and industry folks went home to get out of their shoes and spend time with family. Others went to the official After Party and munched on delicacies like sliders, spring rolls, fried Oreos and fried Twinkies. Danny Gokey did neither. The singer had a surprise coming and what he may have thought was going to be a quite celebration with a few family and friends was actually a surprise #1 bash thrown by his team.

BMG executives, industry leaders and radio personnel joined his family and friends as they celebrated Hope In Front of Me not just debuting at #1, but spawning a single (the title track) that spent over 30 weeks on the charts with four of them being at #1.

In a press release, he talked about the night, saying, "This is an incredible surprise; to be surrounded by my team, family and friends and to receive this recognition, it's full-circle. It's been a journey through writing and creating the music, hitting the road visiting radio stations across the country, and seeing the positive response of fans going to stores and iTunes to purchase and support this record. I am grateful for the success of the album and single, and can't wait to see what is next."

Richard Blackstone, who runs the Artist Services division of BMG, North America, sang Danny's praises, saying, "Danny is one of the most honest representations of talent, strength, courage, generosity, and faith.
