Bat for Lashes' Natasha Khan has joined forces with composer Jon Hopkins to appear on the soundtrack for the upcoming film, "How I Live Now", directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland).

Consequence of Sound quoted a press release that said Hopkins had already written most of the film's score when Khan was invited for a two-day recording session in his East London studio.

In their collaboration, "Garden's Heart," Khan hauntingly croons over a no-frills, atmospheric bassline. The lyrics seem to fit within the storyline of the film, and the song emits feelings of fear and longing during a period of hopeless.

The video for "Garden's Heart" was Khan's directorial debut. The track will be released as a digital single of Oct. 8. The full soundtrack will drop in November via Just Music.

"How I Live Now," is based on the 2004 novel of the same name by Meg Rosoff. It will be screened at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 10 and 11.

The film stars Saoirse Ronan (Daisy) and takes place in a near-futuristic Britain during the Third World War. Daisy is forced to leave America to live with her family in Britain. She is ultimately captured and makes it her mission to get back home.

Also starring in the film are George MacKay, Tom Holland and Harley Bird. It hits theatres October 18. Watch the trailer below:

What do you think of the song? Do you plan to see the film when it comes out in October?
