The deluxe edition of Led Zeppelin's classic album Led Zeppelin IV will be out Oct. 28, but today one of the album's exclusive tracks has been shared online: an alternate mix of the revved-up classic "Rock and Roll." The primary difference between this new version and the original is the guitar mix.

"'Rock and Roll' has just got that cheeky energy about it," guitarist Jimmy Page told Rolling Stone. "It's a party. 'It's been a long time since I rock and rolled.' It says it all, really. It's great lyrics and it's a great performance."

Bassist John Paul Jones is also fond of the song, saying, "As a song, it was actually kind of punky; pre-punk ... It was really fast, too, onstage anyway. It just got really quick, a lot of energy. It's a lot of fun to play. The crowd loved it. We loved it."

You can check out the alternate mix of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" over at Rolling Stone right now.

Here's the original version, if you would like to compare:

The deluxe editions of Led Zeppelin IV and the band's fifth album Houses of the Holy are set for release Oct. 28. They follow the deluxe editions of the first three Led Zeppelin albums, which were released June 3. Pre-orders are available at Led Zeppelin's website.

Unfortunately for Zeppelin fans, it looks like the band will not be reuniting ever. When asked by NME a few weeks ago about the possibility of a reunion, Jimmy Page said, "I'm not going to give a detail-by-detail account of what one person says or another person says. All I can say is that it doesn't look likely, does it?"
