Dustin Lynch had what was likely the worst concert experience of his life when he took a trip to Niceville, Fla., Friday night, Oct. 17. Someone in the crowd decided to toss a full beer can at Lynch while the 29-year-old was finishing a cover of "Friends In Low Places," and the projectile injured Lynch, landing square on his right cheek. But he played through the blood.

"I was walking down the catwalk and just wham, out of nowhere this beer can just nailed me in the face," Lynch told People. "It was a completely full can and it felt like a baseball had hit me."

Blood poured from his face, but there was stoppage in play.

"We finished the show out like we always do," Lynch said. "It was just a little bloodier than usual."

Lynch took a trip to the emergency room afterward, and doctors were able to stem the bleeding. He received stitches and hopes people learn an important lesson from the incident.

"The moral of the story is don't throw beer cans, period," he said. "It's not cool. This guy caused an incident that almost ruined a great night. The crowd was insanely loud and supportive and that's why I wanted to finish my show [despite the bleeding]. I didn't want to get off the stage until I had to."

People reports that a scuffle broke out when the assailant launched the beer, but no one was apprehended.
