Kenny Chesney took a year off from touring, and it appears to have served him well.

The revitalized 46-year-old country star just announced that he will be hitting the road for a massive 55-date tour in 2015. The Big Revival Tour will be in support of this year's album of the same name.

"I made a conscious choice to take the year off the road because I knew that I -- the record that I had in mind that I wanted to make, I knew I couldn't just mail that in," he told ABC's Good Morning America. "I couldn't do it balancing both worlds of being on the road and trying to be creative in the studio.

"The title alone really did hit straight to the heart to how I felt in this year off, in the studio, and making this music that I -- that I really hope that will ... rattle the audience's cage."

Chesney said there's a common question fans and media throw at him.

"I get asked a lot, you know, 'What do you miss the most--this year?" he said. "What's the one thing that you can't really live without?'"

He answered: "It's the first note of every night. That's the thing that's anticipated the most by us as a band and as a road family, it's the shared moment, that first time you see each other. And that's my favorite part of the night. And that's what I've missed the most and what I'm looking forward to the most about 2015."

He and his band will soon bring the new hit "American Kids" to audiences around the country.

"We ... have a blast," he said. "It's a lot of work. But you know what? It's a lot of fun, too. And that's the motto that we've all lived by out there on the road that built No Shoes Nation in the first place, is we work hard and play harder."

The only date officially on Chesney's schedule next year is the Ohio Country Superfest on June 21. Fans can sign up for tour email updates on Chesney's official website.
