Some heavy news surfaced last night, Nov. 5, when outlets began reporting that AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd had been arrested in New Zealand on charges of allegedly trying to procure the services of a hit man. The band recently responded to the incident in a brief statement via Facebook.

"We've only become aware of Phil's arrest as the news was breaking," the post, which went up around 9:30 a.m. today, Nov. 6, reads. "We have no further comment. Phil's absence will not affect the release of our new album Rock or Bust and upcoming tour next year."

Rudd also faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and cannabis. Police raided the famous drummer's home in New Zealand, where he has lived for more than 30 years, early Thursday morning local time. He appeared in court and did not enter a plea after being charged. New Zealand news outlet The Sun reported that Rudd was "accused of procuring murder" sometime between Sept. 25 and 26.

The percussionist is scheduled back in court Nov. 27.

Last month, as Rolling Stone points out, Rudd was absent from a press photo that the band took. When asked about the drummer's exclusion, a representative said Rudd was unable to make the shoot but was still a member of the band.

Prior to his most recent legal woe, Rudd went to court in 2010 for having a small amount of marijuana. He paid a small fine for his guilty plea.

AC/DC's Rock or Bust, the band's 15th studio effort worldwide, will be out Dec. 2. It will be the first effort to not feature rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young, who had to leave the band as a result of dementia.
