Generally, BET's 106 & Park only has artists involved in the hip-hop world, whether they are producers or rappers. But all rules go out the window when Diplo and Skrillex are involved, according to EDMTunes — especially when it is Diplo's birthday. Yesterday, as part of a non-traditional media day for disc jockeys, Skrillex and Diplo made an appearance on the show along with New Jersey DJs and producers DJ Fire and Dougie Fresh, who have released tracks on Diplo's record label Mad Decent.

Since the show was geared toward an urban audience, the questions were related to their work with hip-hop and R&B acts, something both of them have experience in, Diplo especially. Diplo dished on club music, specifically Jersey club, and how he got in touch with DJ Fire and Dougie Fresh and the influence club music is having on the wider music arena.

They discussed the inspiration for their new project Jack U and what it is up to over the next few months, including their Madison Square Garden show on New Year's Eve.

When asked how they decide to work with artists, Diplo respondde that they are looking for "artists with a positive attitude" and want people who are open-minded. He also revealed that Skrillex and he have been in the studio over the past few days with Usher. Diplo famously made "Climax" with Usher in 2013, which became a worldwide hit, so anything that comes from these three could have the potential to do the same.

When asked what the favorite record they made for someone else was, Skrillex replied the new Jack U single "Take You There" with Kiesza because of how spontaneous it was, being created in three hours in an Ibiza hotel room one night. Diplo still recognizes the success "Paper Planes" with MIA, acknowledging that it was his first big radio hit and put him on the map as a producer.

Diplo and Skrillex have been busy lately, and Jack U looks to be a big project to finish out the year. They just revealed six unreleased tracks in their recent barnstormer of a Diplo & Friends mix and will be taking over for jam band kings at Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve.
