The Summer Set aren't quite ready to release the finer details of their forthcoming 2015 album, but they're dropping a Deluxe version of 2013's Legendary.
The 17-track album (due Dec. 2) will feature b-sides and an alternate version of "Lightning In A Bottle," produced by brothers (and TSS members) John and Stephen Gomez, according to AltPress.
As far as that new record goes...
"We don't have any recording time set up or anything," the group said in an August APTV interview. "Or big thing right now is... no matter how long it takes, we're just going to go and try to write as many - I mean our last record we wrote 50-plus songs for. We're just going to start. We've got one or two (songs) right now, and we're just gonna go from there and write until we feel like the record's ready."
The Summer Set has already released three studio albums and four EPs, beginning in 2007 with Love The Love You Have EP.
Legendary (2013, Fearless Records) was their most recent release. Brian Gomez claimed to have been inspired by the sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
"One night, I was hanging out by myself in the living room like an anti-social brat, watching the season finale of How I Met Your Mother while everyone else was partying and having a good time," Gomez told Alter The Press. "A fan of ours tweeted and said, 'If you like How I Met Your Mother so much, why don't you write a song about it?' and so f--- yeah, I did it. I picked up my guitar and wrote this silly little chorus idea, but at the time I thought the melody was cool, and it's kind of funny, I played it to a kind-of intoxicated John and his brother [Stephen, bass] and they both liked it. I don't think if they were totally sober they would of gone with it because at the time it was just a silly chorus that was kind of out there."
Added Dales: "I woke up the next day and started writing a pre-chorus," he said. "The song turned into something about how to be a better version of yourself, which translated into the entire album and the experience of us inspiring ourselves and being the best version of ourselves as possible."
