Canadian synthpop duo Purity Ring has shared a new song titled "Push Pull," which you can check out below. Like the previous Purity Ring singles, "Push Pull" is entirely electronic — with the exception of Megan James's vocals, of course — and seems to bridge the gap between indy electronica and Top 40 pop, with a beat that could easily support a verse by Nicki Minaj, if she were so inclined.

The track was shared with some animated artwork by Russian artist Renata Raksha, though it is not exactly a music video. You can check out Purity Ring's "Push Pull" here:

"Push Pull" is expected to be included on Purity Ring's upcoming studio album, which has yet to be given a title or release date. The album will be the duo's second overall, following their 2012 debut Shrines, which spawned five singles: "Ungirthed," "Belispeak," "Obedear," "Fineshrine" and "Lofticries."

"We feel like we're moving along, even though we're not doing it very often," singer Megan James told the Edmonton Journal about the next Purity Ring album. "We crammed in touring over the last two years, so I think we're going to take it easy and spend the year recording and catching up. There are a lot of little things that you set aside when you're traveling so much. I've really enjoyed not thinking about leaving."

"I got into electronic music because of the possibilities of sound creation," instrumentalist Corin Roddick told The Chicago Tribune about the origins of Purity Ring. "I was getting bored with traditional instruments. There is still a lot of great music being made with them, but I got sick of being in bands with guitars and drums. I wanted the ability to create any sound by using synthesizers and warping samples, dropping in audio, making sounds that no one has heard."
