When he's not busy running Top Dawg Entertainment, Terrence "Punch" Henderson drops some songs of his own, and they're quite excellent. His latest track "25" is a refreshingly laidback ode to resisting the temptations of gang life when growing up in the projects, complete with soul samples and jazz flutes (sounds like they got Ron Burgundy on this), but most excitingly, the track's vocal hook is provided by none other than his label's flagship artist Kendrick Lamar. Apparently Lamar didn't want anyone to know it was him, though, since he's not credited in the song's Soundcloud page.

Punch has yet to release an album, mixtape, or even an EP of his own, but let's hope he gets around to doing that someday.

Lamar's next album, which has yet to be given a title, was promised by the end of 2014, but unless he does a surprise release in the new few weeks (which would be awesome), that doesn't seem to be happening. Lamar's last album, good kid, M.A.A.D city, was released in October 2012, while his most recent single "i" was released this past September, and was nominated this past week for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

"Good kid set the bar," Punch told Complex about the impact of Lamar's last album. "Today, that's the album that you gotta compare your album to. Illmatic would be the comparison — it didn't sell the most records, but that was the standard."

"If I keep focusing on, 'I need to make something better than good kid,' it's going to be just that," Lamar told Complex about his next album. "That's not challenging yourself. I don't want to become that person reflecting on what has been done. What I'm doing now is the question. I'm only as good as my last word, my last hook, my last bridge."
