Brookyln rapper Bobby Shmurda has already had a few run-ins with the law this year, with both felonies and misdemeanors under his belt, but last night (Dec. 16), Mr. Shmurda capped off the year with one last arrest for an undisclosed reason. According to Wondering Sound, Shmurda (whose real name is Ackquille Pollard) was arrested at Manhattan's Quad Studios along with several members of his GS9 crew, and is expected to be indicted tomorrow, Dec. 18. Though the specific charges against Shmurda are at this time unknown, they are likely drug-related, as the story was confirmed to Wondering Sound by Kati Cornell, director of public information for New York's special narcotics prosecutor.

"These arrests were the result of a long-term investigation," Cornell told Wondering Sound. "My office has a sealed indictment against a number of individuals."

Though Cornell doesn't elaborate on exactly what Shmurda and his crew are being charged with, she does suggest that it goes beyond simple drug charges towards something even more serious. "The investigation did involve a number of violent incidents," she said, "as well as narcotics trafficking."

Hot New Hip-Hop points out that Shmurda's arrest will only add to the infamy of Quad Studios, which is where Tupac Shakur was first shot back in 1994.

Back in June, the 20-year-old rapper was arrested on felony gun charges, and recently had his bail extended. He also received a misdemeanor charge for marijuana possession back in October.

It's not clear how Shmurda's arrest will affect his music career, as rappers have a tendency to release a ton of music even while incarcerated. Shmurda's debut EP Shmurda She Wrote was released back on Nov. 10 and spawned the hit single "Hot N***a," and well as another single "Bobby Bitch." His full-length debut is expected at some point in 2015.
