Last night, the world bid adieu to Stephen Colbert, The Colbert Report and the faux-conservative pundit we've all grown to know and love on Comedy Central over the last eight years. In one of the funny news show's final segments, celebrities of all sorts, including Michael Stipe, Willie Nelson, Cyndi Lauper and Randy Newman sang goodbye to Colbert with an emotional performance of "We'll Meet Again."

After Colbert claims himself for immortality in the world, his goodbye show turned into a teary "see ya later." And, before he ran off into the sunset with Santa Claus and Alex Trebek, Colbert was joined by dozens of famous friends and previous guests to sing goodbye... one last time.

A stroll around his famous "C" desk soon led Colbert to be joined by his The Daily Show friend Jon Stewart, with Newman performing on piano, of course.

Soon, more celebs poured in to offer up goodbyes and support. James Franco, "Papa Bear" Bill O'Reilly, Katie Couric, Big Bird, J.J. Abrams, George Lucas and a slew of others sang an emotional goodbye to the show and Colbert.

The final episode of The Colbert Report as a whole is worth watching, but check out the musical number beginning at 10:30 below:

Colbert, of course, is retiring his alter-ego and aiming to take over The Late Show in the new year as David Letterman retires. Letterman's final episode and Colbert's eventual takeover have yet to receive dates.
