The Libertines are back from a 10-year hiatus, but frontman Carl Barat also has another big project he's working on: The Jackals, featuring four musicians he hand-picked from thousands of applicants.

"This new Jackals record, I'm so proud of it, I want to get it out there," he told The Independent. "Right now, The Jackals are in a good position, ready to spring out of the tracks. They are thirsty for it."

The Libertines played a one-off gig in 2010, but otherwise stayed away from each other for a full decade before deciding to reunite earlier this year.

The group recently announced a documentary film that follows their life on the road, and also made a splash by signing with EMI and announcing a new album.

"I don't know what to say, I'm so happy," Pete Doherty said. "It was a beautiful day."

Barat expounded on the rekindled relationship.

"It occurred to us that there was actually no reason why we didn't stay together after we reformed in 2010 at Reading and Leeds," Barat said. "Working alone drives you garrity. With only me to answer my questions and tell me if anything is good or bad, I soon get lost. So I am chasing my tail and nothing productive comes out of that."

Here are the new dates Barat recently announced with The Jackals. The group will be hitting up the east and west coasts, with a single trip to Canada beginning the sked (dates via Vanyaland):
