Earlier this month, R&B singer-songwriter The-Dream debuted his new single "Fruition" the old-fashioned way: through the radio. Now, a radio rip of the single has surfaced online, which you can check out below. The track is a slick piece of R&B driven by some electric piano, drum machine, and electric guitar licks, and sounds like no other mainstream R&B artist currently working right now.

"Fruition" is the lead single and title track to The-Dream's upcoming studio album, which will be his sixth overall, his first since IV Play from 2013. Three singles were released from IV Play: "Slow It Down" featuring Fabolous, "IV Play," and "High Art" featuring Jay Z. Other artists featured on the album include Big Sean, Pusha T, Beyoncé, 2 Chainz, Kelly Rowland, and Gary Clark, Jr.

Though IV Play was The-Dream's most recent full-length album, his most recent release was the EP Royalty: The Prequel, released back in July. It was The-Dream's second EP release, following 2013's Climax. In addition to releasing this EP, The-Dream also contributed music to the recent film Beyond The Lights.

"I do try to write records that are personal to people," he told Vulture about Beyond The Lights and writing music for other performers. "I try to get to know the artist and try to write close to what [they are] without giving everything away. But certain people, they want to say what they want to say about things! I try to write from the depths of the soul, if they'll allow me to. Whatever they allow me to get out and say, if they have the courage to say, then we will [do that]."
