February is a big month for hip hop fans as it is the month for celebrating the work and life of the late, great producer J Dilla. Born James Dewitt Yancey, J Dilla came into this world on Feb. 7, 1974 and passed away Feb. 10 in 2006 after fighting a rare blood disease and possibly lupus. During the producer's 34 years on earth, he contributed heavily to hip hop and even posthumously is still contributing. Upon his death, Dilla had several projects planned for future release and his legacy continues to live on in his peers and fans alike. In recent years, fans have celebrated J Dilla at the annual Dilla Day tribute concert. Normally taking place in Dilla's hometown of Detroit, this year it has been announced that the annual concert will be held in Miami.

This year, the tribute concert, as presented by J Dilla's Mother, Ma Dukes, will take place Feb. 5–8. The line-up is comprised of Joey Bada$$, Pete Rock, Talib Kweli, Slum Village, Madlib, Black Milk, ESTA, Camp Lo, as well as local Miami artists and others that are yet to be announced.

The full weekend will be jam-packed with other events besides performances, including producer panels, BBQs, artist meet and greets to name a few. The events will take place in a number of different locations around Miami including: The Stage, Bardot, and LMNT.

As announced by Dilla Day weekend, a limited run of early bird tickets are now available for $66, which grants attendees to access to all Dilla Day Weekend events and concerts. Ma Dukes states in the press release, "Dilla's music is timeless and lives in all of us. I expect Miami to become the icon of event holders for the Dilla legacy, and raise the bar for events globally."
