The Jonas Brothers broke up unexpectedly in 2013 right before the release of a new album and the beginning of a world tour. Each brother went his separate way with Kevin Jonas eventually putting out a food app (Yood) and signing on to Celebrity Apprentice, from which he was just booted.

It had appeared as if the brothers were on amicable terms following the split, however, Kevin has now revealed that friction between them was the reason for ending the band.

"Being able to play shows and travel together was great, but then once at the end there, the friction was too much and we just really needed to break away and kind of do our own things for some time," the eldest Jonas told HuffPostLive. "I think that's why we're close now, because we're not in the band. By not being in the band together ... that constant butting of heads of working together and being family. We chose to be a family not a band."

Looks like putting family first meant not being with family all the time -- that and "so much drugs," Kevin joked after Celebrity Apprentice co-star Gilbert Gottfried urged the 27-year-old to fess up to the real reason behind the JoBro implosion. "That's the story we haven't told yet."

For those hoping to see Kevin return to music like his brothers have, you'll be disappointed to hear that he has dismissed the idea. He told Music Times back in October that he "had a nice little run there" but that "it's time for something new."

"I'll continue to support [Nick and Joe], but I'm just looking forward to the future of what I can do in a different space," he told us. "And it's already working and things are good."

Elsewhere in the HuffPostLive interview, he talks about his brother Nick showing off his ripped bod at gay clubs. Watch the clip below, and let us know what you think in the comments section!
