In about a month, Fifty Shades of Grey is finally going to premiere in theaters nationwide and then, after years of speculation, we will finally all know whether or not this movie actually works. There has been so much chatter about every aspect of it — from the casting to whether or not it can possibly live up to the book with an R rating — that the bar has been set extremely high. Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele will really have their work cut out for them.
Both actors were on hand to present an award at the Golden Globes last night, Jan. 11. It was a chance to put Dornan and Johnson together in the same place at the same time, to build up a bit of anticipation for the film. If there time together onstage was any indication of how they relate to one another, Fifty Shades of Grey might be the most awkward thing to hit theaters this year. Of course, nerves may have been a factor in their presentation, but after hearing that chemistry had been an issue during filming, well, last night it kind of felt like that might be true, and without chemistry this film is going nowhere.
Another trailer for Fifty also dropped last night and, once again, it does work. Perhaps they are not the best of friends in real life, but if they are equally great at their craft, then maybe enough heat will be there to please the scores of women who will be heading to check out this film in a few weeks. In a recent interview, Dornan said Fifty Shades of Grey is actually a love story and not just about BDSM. If that is the case, then do you think he and Johnson can pull off a love story?
