Mariah Carey took to The Ellen DeGeneres Show and confirmed that she would be taking a residency in Las Vegas at the Caesar's Palace Casino later this year. Rumors had been flying for several weeks so it wasn't much of a surprise but now fans can start planning vacations accordingly (from Billboard).

Carey knows what sells in Vegas, and it ain't deep cuts.

"I'm going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars. This is a special event for me," she told the talk show host. "And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I'm gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album Number 1's, and this is now the updated version with 18 of them. Hopefully other people will enjoy this. I've never done this before."

Carey has 19 total no. 1's, second only to Elvis Presley (depending on what chart you buy into) so she's well stocked for a chart-topper themed show.

Aside from the venue, no other details have been announced yet, as to when Carey will begin and how long she'll be in town.

Residencies are certainly viable options for turning around a high paycheck if you don't mind spending a decent amount of time in Las Vegas. Britney Spears has made headlines in recent years after beginning a residency at the Planet Hollywood, reportedly making $475,000 a show. Celine Dion has been running a residency for years, making a similar amount (although she's recently cancelled dates to tend to her ailing husband). No contract information has been revealed for Carey as of yet.

Caesar's Palace also features one of the hottest lineups in the city, if not world: Elton John performs his acclaimed "Million Dollar Piano" gig and Rod Stewart also has a residency at the venue currently. The Hakkasan group is due to open a new nightclub, Omnia, at the venue later this year.

One more fun detail from Ellen: Carey promised everyone in attendance a ticket. Now they just need Oprah Winfrey to give them a car to drive there.
