Though he was able to joke about it on Instagram, it seems like The Black Keys's drummer Patrick Carney's shoulder injury was a little more serious than initially thought. And due to the injury, the "Weight of Love" band has been forced to cancel its forthcoming European tour.
The Black Keys announced the unfortunate cancellation today (Jan. 23), just a few weeks before the European tour was set to begin. In a message on the band's Facebook page, Carney and Dan Auerbach announced that they were forced to pull out of all tour dates between now and March 10.
"Due to a serious shoulder injury to Patrick, The Black Keys' forthcoming European concerts, part of their Turn Blue World Tour, have been cancelled up until March 10. Regrettably, due to prior scheduled commitments and venue availability, efforts to reschedule the original dates were unsuccessful; therefore all tickets will be refunded in full at their point of purchase. At this time, it is not expected that any dates after March 10 will be cancelled.
From Dan & Pat: "We are very sorry to have to cancel our upcoming performances through March 10. Patrick needs time to heal. We thank all of our fans for their support and we're looking forward to getting back on the road."
The Black Keys are set to resume its tour on April 2 in Brisbane, Australia. The band's upcoming headliners set at Governors Ball 2015 is expected to continue.
