We don't judge what you guys stream on Spotify. Trust us—we're streaming Cyndi Lauper's "She's So Unusual" right now. We do, however, analyze your Spotify listening trends. The service just revealed its Top 10 most popular performers, albums, and tracks of 2013.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are the big winners, topping all three categories. The hip-hop duo topped the most streamed albums list with 2012's The Heist, and placed no. 1 in most streamed tracks with "Can't Hold Us." The pair was also the only act to place two tracks in the most streamed list, with "Thrift Shop" coming in at no. 2.
Other artists that managed to place on all three lists were Daft Punk (no. 3 on the performer's list), Imagine Dragons (no. 5 on performer's list) and Calvin Harris (no. 9 on performer's list).
The closest thing to a "one-hit wonder" was Avicii, who managed to place at no. 2 on the performer's list, based almost entirely on his no. 2 most-streamed track "Wake Me Up!" despite not placing his album in the Top 10. On the opposite side of the spectrum were several rappers who landed on the most-streamed performers list despite not placing Top 10 in either albums or tracks. Eminem took no. 4 overall, Jay Z no. 6 and Drake no. 10. Rihanna also joined their ranks, coming in at no. 8 despite not cracking the Top 10 elsewhere.
