Jack Black has another hit. The Tenacious D frontman has faded from movie stardom since his School of Rock and Tropic Thunder days, but he is still hard at work in the film business. His latest project, The D Train, features himself and James Marsden in starring roles. The movie had plenty of people talking at this weekend's Sundance Film Festival, where Fox Searchlight and Lionsgate reportedly did battle for it before IFC finally grabbed its rights, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Black stars as a high school reunion committee chairman who tries his best to get Marsden, a former classmate and failed actor, to attend their 20-year reunion. First-time directors Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel impressed the Sundance audience with their work.

"Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel prove with this film that they have arrived as one of the great new filmmaking teams in Hollywood," said Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects/IFC Films. "They have crafted a smart, sensitive and hilarious film which features a terrific ensemble, led by the immense talent of Jack Black and James Marsden. Our team fell in love with this film and we are planning to put the full weight of the studio behind it with the goal of rolling the film out in theaters across the country."

There is no official release date yet, but IFC plans to put the film in theaters later this year, per THR. The film also stars Kathryn Hahn, Jeffrey Tambor and Kyle Bornheimer.

Black has stayed busy with his musical projects, too. He and fellow Tenacious D star Kyle Gass will perform at Boston Calling in September. The pair dropped their most recent album, Rize of the Phoenix, in 2012.
