Death Cab For Cutie have shared the first single, the psychedelic "Black Sun," for their upcoming eighth studio album Kintsugi, as well as their first round of tour dates.

"How could something so fair be so cruel," frontman Ben Gibbard sings on the grimy, riff heavy track. "When this black sun revolved around you?"

Kintsugi is due out March 21 on Atlantic Records and is produced by Rich Costey. It will be the group's first new album since the departure of founding member Chris Walla, who left the band last year.

Earlier this month, bassist Nick Harmer spoke to Rolling Stone about the idea behind the album title.

"It's a Japanese style of art where they take fractured, broken ceramics and put them back together with very obvious, real gold," Harmer said. "It's making the repair of an object a visual part of its history. That resonated with us as a philosophy, and it connected to a lot of what we were going through, both professionally and personally."

Death Cab for Cutie's upcoming tour features openers the Antlers and Tune-Yards. It kicks off April 10 in Mesa, Arizona and stops in Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, Toronto, and more cities before heading overseas for some festival dates and returning stateside in July.
