So much for that insider statement the other day about Emile Hirsch being the nicest guy on Earth -- or maybe he is, as long as he stays sober. Unfortunately, while partying at the Sundance Film Festival last weekend, the actor was accused of getting into a physical, drunken altercation with a woman that ended when the police were called. It also reportedly was not some accidental scuffle either because the actor at one point had Dani Bernfield, a Paramount exec, in a headlock.

It was first reported that Park City Police were called to Tao Nightclub at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Jan. 25, only to find Hirsch appearing to be inebriated and accused of aggressively attacking Bernfield, a rising Paramount executive, according to Fox News. More details have now come out from witnesses to the incident, and according to a report by Page Six it was much worse than it had originally sounded.

"Emile was aggressively picking on Dani," said a source, who added that Hirsch then suddenly snapped and "He got even more aggressive and aggro. He pushed Dani up against a table, and then he put her in a headlock."

Another source familiar with the incident called Hirsch's alleged attack a "chokehold," adding that "He attacked her from behind -- he completely blindsided her after he'd been s**t-talking and was already led away from her once," said the source.

Park City Police have confirmed that a full investigation of the incident is underway, and they will be determining whether or not charges will be filed soon. Hirsch has been at Sundance to promote his new film Ten Thousand Saints, which is scheduled to premiere later this week.
