Who doesn't love a good old-fashioned mystery? We know Aphex Twin loves them. Over the past few days, hours of mysterious music has been uploaded to a couple of different Soundcloud accounts that appear to be under the guise of Aphex Twin, but no one is totally certain. Richard James has not confirmed or denied the whole affair, though he is pretty tightlipped about most things that aren't technology.

There is a mounting pile of evidence that points to James as the culprit for this immense load of music. First, the tracks sound like Aphex Twin and have all of the hallmarks of his work. If somebody were to spend this much time copying him, just to upload what is probably years of work onto Soundcloud at once anonymously, they would have to be either incredibly wealthy or have a odd sense of how to do internet marketing.

Second, this is so outlandish that it just falls within reason for something that Aphex Twin would do.

Possibly the most damning piece of evidence however, as pointed out by Rolling Stone is a comment three days ago by the primary account user48736353001 on Aphex Twin's track "Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed [snr2mix]."

"Would like to know the full setup for this track, brilliant music man. I love your early 90's stuff so much, I was doing stuff in the early 90's, similar to you but I didn't know about you when I did it ! Im also 43 years old :) I'm going to be uploading it to soundcloud soon, gotta dust off the old DAT's & cassettes!"

James who had been replying to a few comments in on the song, including about past Portuguese girlfriends and recording techniques, chose this one and responded back, "Beautiful stuff, would love to hear more."

Aphex Twin ended his 13-year period of silence in 2014 with his album Syro and has continued to intermittently release new music on his soundcloud page. He announced his comeback by flying a blimp with the Aphex Twin logo on it over London and then had the logo spray-painted in several locations on the streets of New York. When it comes to him, anything is possible and it keeps fans on their feet and more engaged.

As of this writing uder48736353001 has uploaded 95 tracks. Who knows how many there are to come, probably only James knows — if it is in fact him.
