The World Music Institute will conclude its 2014-15 concert series Around the World, Around the City with Cherish the Ladies: An Irish Homecoming, which will be a 30th anniversary celebration.

Cherish the Ladies is an all-female, Irish-American ensemble that has toured all over the world, performing at the White House and the Olympics. The group started as a concert series organized by folklorist/musician Mick Moloney in 1985. It has since developed into one of the most successful touring ensembles in Celtic music, renowned for its instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements and stunning step-dancing.

The group has 15 albums, the last of which was made into a public TV special, An Irish Homecoming. Cherish the Ladies get their name from a traditional Irish jig and, according to a press release, were recently named one of the top 25 most influential Irish Americans of the past quarter century.

The New York performance will reunite the group with some former members along with longtime collaborators. These special guests include Grammy-nominated vocalist Maura O’Connell, National Heritage Award-winning fiddler Liz Carroll, Siobhan Egan, Marie Reilly, Aoife Clancy, Donna Long, Deidre Connolly, multiple Irish dancers and original group organizer Maloney.
