Welsh psychedelic rock act the Super Furry Animals have announced a short run of live dates, further muddying the question about whether the group is together anymore (from Stereogum).

It will be the band's first shows since 2009 but it never released a statement in the previous six years suggesting that it had officially disbanded. All of the members have been involved in side/solo projects in the meantime, but the group released a video on Friday announcing its return to the stage (featuring a huge, customized inflatable character sporting the "SFA" logo and a soft drink).

"It will be good just to play and hang out again," vocalist Gruff Rhys told NME. "We'll probably be doing a different set every night and songs off all our nine studio albums. We'll be doing quite a lot of Mwng because it's fun to play, but probably not the whole thing."

Rhys' references to Mwng refer to the band's 2000 album, which the group will also be re-releasing as both a two-disc or three-LP set. It will feature the original set of course, plus five tracks that were previously only released with the U.S. version (good news if you're a hometown fan in the UK), a previously unreleased John Peel session, and a full live set from the band's All Tomorrow's Parties festival set.

Here are the dates that have been released so far:

05/01: Cardiff @ Cardiff University

05/02: Cardiff @ Cardiff University

05/05: Glasgow @ O2 Academy

05/06: Manchester @ Albert Hall

05/08: London @ O2 Academy Brixton

No word from the group as to whether more dates should be expected in the near future, or if the band is planning on new music to accompany the "comeback." NME will be hosting an exclusive interview with the band in its next issue, and that's when we suppose we'll know more about Super Furry's future plans.
