Brodinski has released his debut album Brava that has features from the likes of ILoveMakonnen, Slim Thug, Peewee Longway, Young Scooter, Young Gleesh and others. A culmination of years of work, the album brings together Brodinski's love of hip-hop with his own dark techno. You can stream or download it.
The exercise of fusing his own sound into hip-hop was practised with Kanye West on "Send It Up" and "Black Skinhead," and this album sees his own work develop further, creating different textures and beats for each track that suits the abilities of each vocalist perfectly.
As he said in an interview about the album with Thump, "this album isn't a climax, but a new start."
Club Chevval member Myd and French producer DJ Kore helped out with production, as Brodinski indicated with a tweet -- refreshing, since most DJ/producers hide who helps them produce their records.
The process of getting all these, primarily American rappers on the album, was not easy, but the allure of Paris and finally playing them music helped get them on board.
"There has been a lot of meetings with rappers, a lot of time spent in Atlanta, Washington and L.A., living with them, recording with them, playing them Chris Liebling records and stuff," Brodinski recounted to Thump.
He spoke to Pigeons and Planes about the direction of the album and what he intended with the LP:
"We just tried to make something different, not simply because we wanted to be different, but more to make something that we like. I didn't want to make any compromises, I wasn't thinking about whether people are going to like it or not."
