The royal family is just as dysfunctional as any other -- they just often manage to hide it under money and behind closed doors in the kind of privacy that can only be bought and paid for. But every once in a while, something spills out. This time around, we are hearing rumblings that Prince Charles is rather unhappy with just how little he sees of his only grandchild, Prince George. To make things even worse for him, it is a well-known fact that the Middletons spend a lot of time with the toddler, so Charles is actually beginning to express some of his jealousy and resentment. According to a report by The Daily Mail, the heir to the throne believes the family hatred for his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles is one of the main reasons the young prince is being kept away from his grandfather.

"At the heart of the heir to the throne's frustrations is the so-called 'Middleton-ization' of his son William's life -- specifically the inordinate amount of time he spends with his in-laws Michael and Carole, with whom he recently holidayed in Mustique for Carole's 60th [birthday]," said the insider.

"In fact, so vexed is Charles about the so-called 'March of the Middletons' that he has complained to friends, 'They never let me see my grandson.' Adds a source: 'Carole has rather taken over, dictating when George naps, when and what he eats. All in all, behaving like she's Queen Carole.' It is certainly true there have been few, if any, trips to Charles's Gloucestershire home Highgrove over the past year. Some think it's a deliberate move on William's part to protect his young family from suffering the same stiff, and often unhappy, upbringing he endured," explained the insider.

It has been a poorly kept secret just how badly Bowles has treated Kate Middleton over the years, so it seems natural that the family would want to protect the baby from her. If Bowles wants to tag along with Charles on a visit, the chance of that visit being canceled is pretty good, and who can blame them?

There has also been an awful lot said about how William wants his children raised in as normal an environment as possible. That no doubt means keeping them as far from the palace drama as possible.

It is quite believable that Charles is finding himself left out of the loop, but perhaps if given the chance he will be a better grandfather than he has been a father. Do you think Prince George is intentionally kept from Charles, or is the issue more about Bowles? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
