As promised, St. Vincent (born Annie Clark) contributed a new song to the current season of her friend Lena Dunham's show GIRLS on HBO. The track, "Teenage Talk," played as the credits rolled on Episode 8, which aired last night. The song fits well with the sound she went for on her Grammy-winning self-titled effort, which makes sense seeing as it was one of the tracks left on the cutting room floor (until now).

"That's just teenage talk / I don't think the past is better better / Just cause it's cased in glass / Protecting us from our now and later," she sings. "How do you see me now / Now that I'm a little bit older, older / Never mind the albatross / Smoldering on my shoulder, shoulder, shoulder, shoulder."

GIRLS music supervisor Manish Raval talked with Billboard about how he secured the track.

"I said to St. Vincent's people, 'We love Annie and she and Lena are friends. Is there anything laying around?' They sent us a demo of a song called 'Teenage Talk' that she hadn't released yet and it was amazing. Lena flipped for it."

St. Vincent is among a number of artists who have contributed new, original material to the show since it began including Jenny Lewis, Miguel, fun., Santigold, Lily Allen, and Grimes.

St. Vincent's eponymous fifth album was released in 2014 and reached No. 12 on the Billboard 200 before winning Best Alternative Album at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
