It's a busy week for Maybach Music head Rick Ross. Not only is the notorious rapper allowed to keep his stage name under the First Amendment, but he also took on one of 2013's biggest rap hits in a new freestyle. Yesterday (Jan. 1), Ross dropped his take on "Bound 2."

Opening the freestyle with a pronunciation of a happy new year and that "You know I had to play with this," Ross drops his own rhymes over the "Bound 2" sample, and references things very close to West's heart multiple times in the track: the Kardashian family and skiing.

"Dark skin brothers learn to ski / Got a thing for Khloe, Lamar lost his feet / Scott Disick, Taylor check me in a week," he raps in his second verse.

Eventually Ross' "Bound 2" cover transitions into Kanye West's original track and does so quite seamlessly. However, the two versions back-to-back showcase that Ross' version is a bit clunkier than the original.

Regardless, listen to the "Bound 2" freestyle by Rick Ross below, released via SoundCloud:

It's been a busy season for Ross rapping over some of pop's biggest hits. In recent weeks, he's also taken on Lorde's "Royals" and Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home."

Meanwhile, when West isn't off skiing with his new family, the rapper is promoting "Bound 2" as the second official single from his most recent album Yeezus.
