Kendrick Lamar tweeted a mysterious message last night, and followers who listened to his instructions were treated to a free concert in Hollywood. All over Hollywood.

"9pm. meet me here. 8950 Sunset Blvd. 930pm. meet me here. 8466 Melrose Ave," the rapper tweeted, according to HipHopDX.

Those who responded to the first time and address were greeted by police on motorcycles and Top Dawg Entertainment staffers. At 9 o'clock, an 18-wheeler truck with a flatbed back pulled into the parking lot. It was immediately evident that a band was on the vehicle but no one noticed until the lights kicked on that the emcee was hiding amongst the instrumentalists. He began the impromptu performance with "Money Trees"...interestingly not something from his newly released To Pimp A Butterfly, which is all but guaranteed to top the Billboard 200 when the official numbers come out later today.

Obviously Lamar provided two times and two addresses, and soon the truck pulled out of the lot onto Sunset Blvd to head toward the second location, about 1.4 miles away if Google maps is to be believed. That didn't mean fans at the first "venue" were done however. They followed the truck as it rolled slowly through the streets, escorted by police as Lamar continued to perform. Some reports indicated that police had "shut down" the concert but that wasn't true: Law enforcement was involved in planning the route from the beginning.

MissInfo.tv reports that the events were promotions for Reebok and its new Reebok Pump athletic shoe line. The hashtag "#GetPumped" was written on the sides of the truck.

We may not get a truck, but fans can only hope that Lamar will bring the live band with him when he hits the road for shows in support of To Pimp A Butterfly this year.
